August 2020 Wrap up

August was a pretty good month for me all around. I returned to working in my office after working remotely for 4 months, which seemed to trigger other things returning to a more kind of “normal”.

Getting back into the normal routine of getting up, going to work and coming home really helped me get back into other things I usually did, such as reading. This month, I finished off the Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher, read a stand alone book and started the Kate Daniels series by Illona Andrews.

My plan for September is to complete the Kate Daniels series. That’s ten books so it may be a little ambitious of me. I also have 3 books pending for review. I’d like to get to those sooner rather than later, but I’m not going to force myself to read something I’m not in the mood for.

After accidentally buying a book that i already owned, for about the 20th time, I have decided that I really need to get through a lot more books before I allow myself to buy any more. I really dislike having to return books.

My focus for the rest of the year is to get through as many books on my shelf as I can. Funny, because I have been saying that for awhile and then end up buying new books at some point. Well, I will try harder having announced it on the internet.

Happy reading all!

Monthly Wrap-up – January 2020

Wow, today is the last day of January. Already! I know a lot of people think that January always goes by slowly, but for me, January flew by.

To say that I’ve got a good head start of my reading goal for this year would be an understatement. I’ve already read 11 volumes of manga and 9 novels, for a total of 20 books this month! For me, that’s pretty darn good. Especially considering how miserably I failed at reaching my book goal last year. So yeah, I’m pretty proud of myself.

I don’t have any concrete plans for what I want to read in February. I’m currently reading the Nikki Glass series by Jenna Black, so I will finish that and then see what I am in the mood for. I seem to be in the mood for Urban Fantasy so I might read the Kate Daniels series.

My mood is a bit unfortunate, considering I have several trilogies that are strictly fantasy and I really want to read things that are finished. My mood could change at any time though, and I kind of hope it does.

How was your January reading? Did you reach any goals you set for yourself? Plans for February?

2020 Reading Goals

2020! New year, new decade, so new reading goals, right? Well, no, not really. For awhile now my reading goals have been consistently the same. 1. Read books that are stand alone or part of a series that is completed and that I own. 2. Make a gap on my physical bookshelf. 3. Don’t buy books.

Guess how well that has worked out so far! Not so good. So I go back to those same goals and hope to achieve them a little better this year. For reference, I’ve taken a picture of my bookshelf. I hope to read as much from thisĀ list on my Goodreads account as possible.

I always start out the new year with good intentions, but it just doesn’t always work out the way I hope. Wish me luck this year! What are your reading goals?
